Past Tense Core Rule -았/었어요
Korean past tense is usually:
- Verb/adj stem + 았/었어요
Common high-frequency forms (memorize these first):
- 가다 → 갔어요 (went)
- 오다 → 왔어요 (came)
- 먹다 → 먹었어요 (ate)
- 마시다 → 마셨어요 (drank)
- 보다 → 봤어요 (saw/watched)
- 하다 → 했어요 (did)
- 자다 → 잤어요 (slept)
- 쉬다 → 쉬었어요 (rested)
Beginner tip: Noun + 했어요 is super useful.
